Minor changes and fixes made over the past two days:
We're also pleased to announce that we've recently topped over 3,000 new signatures generated on our system. Not bad for only having been around since February. Spread the word about ToonSig!
New changes to the interface for customizing your signature:
We're considering dropping the advertising screen in favor for a donate button somewhere. If we dropped the advertising would you be interested in throwing a few bucks into our donation cup? Let us know: support @ toonsig.com.
You can also follow development updates and releases on Twitter. Follow @toonsig for updates on what's happening with ToonSig, including releases of new signature themes and further development efforts.
We've made a few changes to the member dashboard interface, allowing you to re-order your signatures, we've consolidated the "get code" button that displays both BBCode and HTMl, and have also added an armory link as well. In addition, we've fixed a bug that occurred when newbs only had one profession and haven't yet selected their second profession.
Users browsing with Internet Explorer 8 (we believe it's still in BETA) will have problems customizing their signature when it comes to changing what displays in the middle and right columns. Grrrr Micro$oft, you suck. We're presently rebuilding the "customize your signature" interface and will present something we hope that Internet Explorer will choke on and die will be able to work properly with. If you have not yet done so, make the switch to Firefox. You'll thank us later.
We expect to roll out version 0.6 either later this weekend or into next week.

A few changes to the data structure were made in this build to help prevent further syncronization errors. In the coming weeks we will be adding a few extra catch features to ensure that if images are not generated, notification will be sent off to support automatically with appropriate error message information. As to what was wrong, we're not quite certain and think it may have to do with a function we're using to create images from .gif files. The jpg files seem to be working better and we hope that you won't experience further errors.
In addition, we've fixed signatures 3551 to 3567 and regenerated them to be in proper sync with the Armory.
If you experience any problems, please report them as per the FAQ.
Aaaaaaaaaah! That pretty much sums up the past 16 hours or so, an exhasperated declaration of "WTF" with arms flailing in the air and repeated sighs coming from my workstation. While I would love to hold the Bloodsail Buccaneers responsible for this latest atrocity, we'll take partial ownership for the data syncronicity issue...partial. The other part has to do with some sort of funky anomoly where completely valid image files (used to build the signatures) were no longer being recognized as "valid" by the image generation library we're using. /flail arms
I've made minor adjustments to the code, of which you won't notice any difference...other than it working (hopefully...fingers crossed). What IS different is the records in the database. Mary Poppins swooped in and did the whole white tornado thing, cleaning up the database, removing orphaned recordsets, removing orphaned signatures, and attempting to fix some of the whacked crap showing up in people's images (like paladins showing up as "unholy" or "beast mastery"). So members, if you have empty signatures saved to your dashboard (toons without a signature image), let me know what the number is of that toon so we can remove it from your profile. To have a "blank" toon removed from your profile do the following:
We had a gross number of orphaned recordsets with our European bretheren's attempts to make signatures. So while we would love to say that folks in Russia or Spain won't have any problems making signatures, we can't fully support international signatures at this time — if you're having a problem creating a signature and you're not from North America, I can't promise results for you. Sorry. I'm a new father, have little spare time, and just don't have any internationalized resources available to me (i.e. people) to make that happen. That's life. You're playing an internet sword game, and this is a fun little internet sword game supporting web app. In the grand scheme of life, it's really not that important.
I appreciate everyone's patience through the downtime. We were down much longer than I'd like, but it was in the interest of restoring the integrity of our database and its correlation to the physical signatures on the server. I'm sure you lived. ;-)
If you continue to have issues with ToonSig not working right for you, please refer to the FAQ for properly reporting issues. Thanks!
Blizzard launched the patch this past Tuesday with the new feature of dual-spec'ing. If you are among the many who shelled out the 1K in gold for the ability, you can now show both your primary and your secondary spec in your signature. If you encounter any issues in updating your signature and incorrect displays of your talent stats, please ensure that your armory data has updated first before contacting us. If your armory data is correct and is not updating on ToonSig, please report the issue to support (AT) toonsig.com. Please refer to the FAQ for properly reporting technical problems. Thanks!
Both WoW and ToonSig can become a family affair...and for me, it really is. My wife and I are having a baby and she's due any day now! So to celebrate, I've created two custom themes: It's a boy! and It's a girl! themes. So if you are having a baby(like we are), feel free to use them. If you use them, be sure to use the [BLANK SPACE] option in the middle and right columns so that the background text comes through. Enjoy!
No patch updates today, but we did go back and fix all the signatures that were missing the male bloodelf icon. Your signatures now have the icon properly displayed in the left area next to the class icon. You can thank me later.
We've also recently passed the 600 signature mark. Having only been around for about a month, I'd say we're making some great headway. It's nice to see our signatures being used on so many guild forums as well as other reputable forums like PlusHeal. A big shout out to them. If you know of other reputable WoW sites that are using our signatures, drop us a line and let us know where at support @ toonsig.com.
Thanks for your support!
You won't notice most of the patches applied with this version as most of them are behind the scenes to help make the application run more smoothly. No significant changes to report, though. However we did go in and make some data repairs to users with invalid data and did them the favor of regenerating their signatures for them. You can thank us later.
If you have issues adding or updating your toons, please refer to the FAQ for reporting technical problems. Thanks!
ACK! It was a buggy weekend for ToonSig. The last code drop was a bit flawed and ended up in tables that were not in sync with each other. Some were reporting strange errors, like "doh! I'm a shammy and how am I listed as protection spec???" Well we had to go in and do a little brain surgery on the code and the database. You may wish to go in and re-update your toons to ensure that the data is correctly synced. Please report any problems that you might have and we'll see what we can do to fix it.
While we were in there, we added a feature to delete any toons or signatures that you either no longer want or feel compelled to just start over. We felt this necessary for a few reasons: 1) people switching realms with their toons, 2) errors in signatures and needing to start fresh, and 3) maybe you just don't need that signature anymore and would love to do us the favor and free up some space for 1's and 0's.
Please report any issues to support @ toonsig.com. Thanks.
What's a morning-after release without a few things to patch up? Fortunately the only thing noteworthy of "patching" isn't really a patch and more of an image replacement. Users with male bloodelves had been experiencing issues with their male bloodelf icon displaying. While I'd like to think that it has more to do with the idea of bloodelves being male (conversely like the idea of female dwarves... you know that they're just male dwarves with hormone balance issues), this had everything to do with a bad .gif file. The bad image has been swapped and all male bloodelf toons should have their masculinity restored and the icon display now in their signatures. Female bloodelfs were unaffected by this issue because, well, they're hawt. ;-)
Big updates today with this version.
Updates, fixes & additions:
On tap for the next build:
Okay, today was obviously a busy day of patches and little additions to the website. In addition to the previously added stats, we've also added in items in all three selection fields labeled [BLANK SPACE] allowing you to have blank areas on your signature. So if you like the images and don't want them cluttered up with text, you can opt to go blank.
Additionally, for those that still want basic spec info on the right columns, you can now select that as an option under the General grouping.
By popular request among tanks, we've finally got the defense stats up for selection, including defense, armor, block, parry, doge, and resilience. Enjoy!
A small hot-fix applied this afternoon. Users with an apostrophe (') in their realm name were experiencing errors in returning character data and being able to generate their signatures. We've applied the necessary addslashes() statements and all is working as expected. Thank you to the users at PlusHeal not only for reporting the error, but for switching your signatures to ToonSig. We appreciate the support!
In addition, we fixed an issue with logged in users having problems adding new toons from the generated signature page, being required to fill in a password with no password field. That's been fixed and all should be good to go.
A small upgrade to ToonSig today (not including the plethora of themes that have been added today), which also happens to be theme-related. We've done a bit of house-cleaning and have organized the themes into categories, making it a little easier to thumb through and pick the theme that fits your characters best. We think you'll find this to be pretty helpful.
We'll also eventually throw some stats out there for you to check out from time to time, such as the most widely used themes.
Batch updating is still pending and under development. It should be available the next release.
A few small hot-fixes for our friends across the pond on the EU servers pertaining to realm names. Admittedly a few small errors on my part on cleaning up input data (failing to take into account such things as the letter é). Merci bien à mes amis en Europe!
This morning in the shower I briefly entertained the idea of making ToonSig multi-lingual, but that would be a bit of an undertaking. If you are fluent in other languages such as German, French and Spanish, and would love more than anything to translate a bunch of text, we can put you to work. But that will be a ways off yet. We're still refining things.
Thanks again for your support and reporting any issues that come about.
One more small hotfix placed in today with regard to some Javascript form validation issues as well as handling of special characters at the start of toon names. It also appears that the signature generator is now working properly for the iPhone and iPod Touch, so yay for ToonSig-to-go. /cheer
More options have been added to the themes, with four new camouflage images to choose from.
A small hot-fix applied today related to Internet Explorer Exploder. Character add/edit feature was producing Javascript errors in IE. So a temporary fix is in place, but is now producing display issues with Firefox. We hope to have a fix early next week.
Another big build before the weekend with some great new changes to ToonSig to make it or efficient, easy-to-use, and one of the best damn World of Warcraft signature generators out there.

We've added over a dozen new signatures to this build, including a custom signature for the Drop Bears guild on US-Moonrunner. If you would like a custom signature made for your guild, please send your jpg (without the toonsig watermark — we create that) to support @ toonsig.com. ALL images are subject to ToonSig approval, and we reserve the right to refuse any submissions without an explanation.
One minor adjustment to the image builder: we pushed the level of your toon down one pixel to be better balanced in its position.
Later this week we hope to introduce batch updating and character password modification, bringing the build version up to 0.2.3. And after we feel that ToonSig is set to mature like a fine wine (and refine as we go), our next project will involve creating a raid calendar. We've got some slick ideas up our sleeves and think we'll have a great calendar available for guild usage.

KNOWN ISSUE:
Version 0.2 is here and we can safely say we're out of "beta" development. /cheer ...and there was much rejoicing. We had a brief "OH S#!T" moment earlier today before the launch, but all is functional and we're excited at the release of the new ToonSig.

What's next:
We will be releasing version 0.2 in the next few days, which will include a number of significant features to ToonSig. Among the many additions, you can now set up your own account/profile to manage multiple signatures with ease. With the next build you can add existing signatures that you've created to your profile (requires password) and easily modify them with a single click.
Additionally, we'll be launching the brand new look-n-feel as well without the "stuck in development" look. And in subsequent builds we may offer additional style options to match your preferences.
There will be a 30-minute notice on the ToonSig banner when the site will be brought down for the upgrades. Your signatures will still be available and the upgrade should take no more than five to ten minutes. If you have questions, contact us at support @ toonsig.com.
Additions and fixes:
Well, just two days after my birthday (Horditarian) and a few new additions to ToonSig, I feel we've got a little something to celebrate.
